If you have not figured it out by now I have a few favorite foods in life. One of those is sushi and I really try my best to sample all that KC has to offer. Up until this point the pinnacle of KC sushi heaven has involved a short drive to Lawrence. So recently in our local foodie community there has been a lot of buzz about a new place that has opened in Parkville called Sakae. Of course all in the name of research we were obligated to check it out. When we go on research trips the name of the game is to go hungry so you can sample all the delights.
Before I get to the nuts and bolts that displays all the awesomeness this place has to offer I will just sum it up right here. The fact that my foodie friend will drive from the Plaza to Parkville multiple times a week for takeout at Sakae……well that should tell you all your need to know. Yes it is that good.
The sushi at Sakae is OUTSTANDING! In my opinion there is nothing that comes close to it locally. I have to admit my foodie friend and I tend to stay away from all things that include cream cheese or happen to be fried so we have not tried those items on the menu. The only problem for us has been the fact that I have a low tolerance for spice but she likes the heat. Luckily my foodie friend also has a foodie Dad and he likes spicy food….problem solved.
If you happen to have a diner in your group that is not into sushi they do have other things on the menu. Crab Rangoon seems to be popular because we have seen it delivered to every table.
I really can not say enough good things about this place. Let me assure you that it takes no time at all to get to Parkville and isn’t great sushi worth it? Of course it is!!!
